The term “A picture is worth a thousand words” has never been truer. Consumers are now using the web to look for product pictures and videos; they want more information and want to see what they’re considering buying. The good news is that it’s easy for a company to create and publish videos and pictures.

In addition to taking photos of products, you can also take pictures at office events as a way to highlight company culture. Many small businesses do some sort of offline advertising, whether it be radio, print, or cable. Social marketing allows a business to extend their offline sales pitch.

Including your Facebook Page or blog URL in offline ads act as social proof, inviting potential consumers to see your community and increase trust in your business. Not only can integrating online and offline advertising help the conversion process, but it can also help build your community. Introducing potential consumers to your social profiles means they may join your community now and buy later.

As businesses start to become more sophisticated with social media they are starting to leverage more online platforms. However, most deliver the same message over multiple platforms instead of tailoring communications for each individual site.

Strategy 5: Contests and Discounts

Building a community is only the first part of social marketing. Using that community to drive sales, propagate marketing, or crowdsource operations is the true power of social media. One way to excite the community is to collectively do something to create a contest or offer an exclusive discount (i.e., the contest can create competition between users). Not only does a contest build buzz organically but if contestants need to, for example, publish an article that gets the most comments in order to win, the contest itself becomes viral.

A good social media contest should include some sort of sharing or virality as a requirement for winning.

Discounts are also a great way to connect with your community. By giving exclusive coupons to your social community, you’re rewarding and reminding them that you are not only a brand to engage with, but also to buy from.

What is The Current State of Your Automated Social Bookmarking Situation?

Running through a forum the other day, I came across the question, what is the best Automated Social Bookmarking tool? Well it struck me as strange question for the following reasons.

The actual real world manual social bookmarking process is so much bigger then one automated social bookmarking tool.  and when it comes to Social Bookmarking Websites, there are plenty of them and they keep on appearing ever other day. Some of the most  popular ones are present in this post so for now lets discuss the manual and the automated social bookmarking process.

How to Start Manual or Automated Social Bookmarking?

The concept is you will or have:

  1. Found something you like, like to share or just want to remember
  2. You Register with the social website of choice
  3. You wait for email to get your e-mail address verified

And Now You Start the Social Bookmarking process.

You can either click on a share icon or button on the web page you like to add the website/web page in your social bookmarking account or log into the social bookmarking website and add the website’s URL/Title, Description and any comments manually.

If the website/ web page is already bookmarked by someone else then you might not be able to bookmark it, in which case you can Vote for it by clicking on the available options which would be available against each of such bookmarks.

Now the concept is don’t bookmark useless website links, that have no use to you or general public. You should provide useful comments, not just excellent” or “awesome”. No spam to start bookmarking each and every page of the website just to get a link. And you should provide  keyword/Tags/Labels etc while bookmarking.

Social Bookmarking for Backlinks and SEO means almost the exact opposite unless you combine the  real world process with the SO backlink building process. As these are social websites the administrators can be choosy,  very choosy so adhere to the rules else if you violate them your account will be closed immediately.

Since per the administrators,  we are all NOT suppose to not use the same IP, submit from same location  and theoretically other people are  book marking our sites. If done correctly, tis means the social site admin keep us in their systems.  I have found issues with the question that assumes there is a best tool and then I have found issues with the tools below.

Problems I, (You may) encounter with Automated Social Bookmarking Tools

-

Your Proxy Location – Now think about this statement about your IP address.  Are you aware that everything you do on the web can be tracked right back to your computer through the utilization of your web custom address, which is a code assigned to your by your net Service supplier.  This address is totally unique to you and your connection, at any particular time no-one else will be using the same IP address anywhere in the world and logs are kept of who is using what IP address and when they used it.  This means as soon as you crank up your social bookmarking, you must start using proxies and not public but private ones.  See below to learn more

Bookmarking Demon – The tool has a great set of features and I love the basic interface and then it gives me the ability to use a more professional interface. It has every thing you need to wipe out your footprint and more. You are not alone because it’s awesome for providing strategies to become a super duper bookmarker.  They could sell the strategy book alone. I have used Bookmarking demon and while it worked great in the beginning, the later version seems buggy and very slow.

BookMarkWiz – nice but I couldn’t find the continuous automation button fast enough. It’s a one time costs, but not as sophisticated as other tools. The sales copy is awesome but the usage documentation to me was absolutely lousy.

SYNND - I used SYNND and yes its great because as stated it is so much more then bookmarking, you  just have to be prepared for the monthly fee . It incorporates you doing, others doing it for you and it increases your links and your bookmarks. No proxy worries here either. The system works very well as advertised but I was not ready for the monthly fee.

Onlywire – web based connected to my blog, but I like many others just can’t seem to get it to work on a regular basis. I seem to always have to go and manually submit my links. Ugh.

I have also used a few other tools and while they all work well , they seem to at some point lose the power they had when they started.

Manual – I have also gone manual but there are only so many days in a week and hours in a day. But let’s face it, you will never get the volume of links required to make a huge difference, but manual does work but not using automatons is like a crime to me.

What’s the Ultimate Automated Social Bookmarking Solution(s)

Well if you follow the natural rules of normal social bookmarking,  I do the following combination of manual and automated social bookmarking. I do some set it and forget and let it run on its own. I do some manual setup and let automation take over and that includes my manual work. I also use proxies to make sure it looks much more natural.

Set It Forget it Automated Social Bookmarking

Automated –- I use one remote system hosted by another company on their site. It just chugs along all day, everyday bookmarking. It’s a set it and forget it. The key is in proper setup in the beginning so it looks natural when it works.

Automated Manual – I take a same copy of the remote server software and host it on my servers. Same rules apply- different domain, different IPs, different comments, different etc. It also chugs along everyday just bookmarking in the background.

Automated – Manual – I have a few blogs( like a lot) and I have went in and set up articles on the   automated scheduled posts out for a year or more and then turn on the automated capability of the WPSyndicator plugin and PING FM to social bookmark automatically.

Set It  Feed It Manual Automated Social Bookmarking

Manual – Automated – I also have my main blogs that I post on daily and I manually post my thoughts and in the background the blog automatically syndicates using the WPSyndicator plugin to social bookmark  so on a daily basis its bookmarking also.

Manually Boosting Your Links – Finally I use a service called EZArticleLink which has others sending articles out etc for you . Then I go in get the links others posted for me and put them in my automated system above and let it bookmark, set on auto and it runs all day,  everyday.

Thoughts on Automated Social Bookmarking

-

My point is the question what one best tool makes it happen? Well if you really look at the strategy of bookmarking (suppose to be done by others) and  after using like 6 of the desktop software tools and another 5 of the web based tools, I have yet to find 1 Best Tool that does it all.

The other thing of importance is that most of us want to blog or do other things like create products and therefore unless you are a social bookmarking junkie, you either hate the social bookmarking process,  you do it out of necessity or you want to bookmark like you should when you want to.

The few keys to Automated Social Bookmarking Success using Automation are:

-

  1. Make sure your post titles are in the form of a question or they actually sound like wow look what I found.
  2. Make it natural and not have 100 pages of one site show up in one day.
  3. Use others websites and bookmark them or use other rss feeds and bookmark thems,
  4. Use private proxy , everybody is using the public ones.

These tips will reduce dramatically the chances of your account getting closed.

Therefore you really want to do your regular work and have the social bookmarking take care of itself. The process I use and outlined lets you work naturally while in the background the social bookmarking automation takes care of the heavy duty stuff.

Once you have your page up, you’ll need to get 25 or more fans in order to choose the domain name you want for your page. Let’s say you want to call your page “glassware projects.” Once you have 25 or more fans you would go to Facebook.com/username to apply for the name you want.

Being able to send someone to Facebook.com/glasswareprojects is easier than the big multiple number and letter domain name they give you.

2) Invite your Facebook Friends -

You already have a Facebook Profile Page, so if appropriate for your Fan Page, invite all your friends from your profile page to join your Fan Page.

3) Invite your email list -

This is a no brainer but many people fail to do it. Announce your Fan Page to your list, and let them know you will be sharing tips that you share no where else online. Say this only if it is true, of course.

4) Use Social Marketing SignPosts -

Use Twitter, YouTube, EzineArticles, your blog and any other Social Marketing platforms to invite people to become a part of your Fan Page.

5) Have regular features -

This is gold for consistent traffic. When you have a regular feature your fans look forward to it. The day of the week you have your regular feature could well me the day you get the most consistent traffic. Examples could be an article, video or tip of the week.

6) Ask questions that deliver tips -

So few people do this yet it is so powerful. Asking questions invites and gets you interaction, plus emsam buy people share their tips thus bringing in more folks who want to learn the new tips.

7) Stay consistent -

If you want consistent participation, you have to be consistent yourself.
